Watch Us Grow
Sauvie Island Lavender Farm was
established in 2006 on historic Sauvie
Island. Our beautiful farm is like a Victorian
garden with lovely paths leading to a
flower-filled arbor where visitors can view
four snow-capped mountain peaks and
hundreds of acres of nursery and farmland.
The farm was originally part of the 1850's
homestead of James and Isabella Logie.
By the late 1800's, the farm was the site
for one of five one room school
houses on the Island.

GROWING PAINS
Our farm will have a late start this season. We will
open up for u-cut around mid-June and will stay open
for u-cut through September if there is a good second
bloom.
We will continue to participate in the Oregon Lavender
Festival the second weekend in July!
Our quality value-added lavender farm products that
many of you come back for year after year will be
available for purchase beginning in June at Kruger's
Farm Market and The Pumpkin Patch. Both are located
here on Sauvie Island. They are also available through
internet and phone orders. Customer pick up at the
farm can be arrange as well as shipping anywhere in
the U.S.
WHY THE CHANGE THIS YEAR?
Multnomah County Land Use Code Enforcement asked
me to obtain a Farm Stand Permit.
Unfortunately, the County has been requiring farmers
who obtain this permit to put in public restrooms with a
septic system. This is putting a financial burden on
farmers and negatively impacting our farming
practices. This is not practicable nor feasible both
economically or physically for our farm.
Until this situation can be rectified with the County, we
are scaling back our farm practices and projecting a
huge financial loss for this season.
Hopefully, next season we will be back at full strength.
In the mean time, our lavender is growing wonderfully
and we hope you will come out and support our u-cut
season.
